Located on the shores of the Veluwe lake, Scout Centre Harderhaven is the ideal base for various water activities. Below a summary of the possibilities:
Boat mooring
Scout Centre Harderhaven has various mooring options for boats of all sizes. For the smalle boats we have boxes and for larger ships we have ample space on our jetties. For groups that are staying at the Scout Centre, this facility is free of charge (surcharge for vessels over 10 m is applicable). For passers-by harbour dues apply. Passers-by are always welcome..
Renting of sailing boat
Scout Centre Harderhaven has two sailing boats. These are so called "Lelievletten". These steel sailing boats of approximately 6 meters in length are used by almost all Dutch sea scouts. These boats are also suited for rowing besides sailing. A sailing boat offers place for 6-8 persons. These can be rented via the reservations form or on location from the camp staff or caretaker. The boat is complete including life jackets for all occupants. We do not offer sail instructors, so make sure somebody on board has some sailing experience. At the moment the boats are only rented out to members of Scouting and when camps staff is permanent present on the Scout Centre.
Canoeing
Scout Centre Harderhaven has several old canoes, these can be used for free by our guests.
Launching of boats
Scout Centre Harderhaven has a boat crane, which can hoist up to 1000 kg and launch boats in the water. This service is only available for our guests. We also have a small slipway, where small boats and canoes can be launched from by hand.
Swimming
The water in the harbour is of excellent quality for swimming. From the dedicated swimming jetty you can jump in the water and climb out via the stairs. Also we have various surf boards, to play with in the water. The water is on the deep side and there is no beach. So the ability to swim is needed. There is no lifeguard service.
Raft building
On the Scout Centre there are materials available to build your own raft, which you can test in the water afterwards. Inquire at the camp staff, if you want to make use of these materials.
